The crazies in the parlor
"I'm saying this is the South, and we're proud of our crazy people. We don't hide them up in the attic. We bring 'em right down to the living room and show 'em off."- Julia on"Designing Women" television show
So that quote pretty much sums up the South and the way we deal with our crazy family members EXCEPT when that crazy sum'na'bitch not only aims that shotgun but pulls the trigger.
To say I am stressed and upset is an understatement. My sister is expected to die thanks to her family refusing the Covid vaccine. My Dad finally said his piece, and told my dumbass BIL off about killing his youngest daughter.
I’ve been trying for a couple of days to bring myself to email you because it has become clear that Stephanie will soon no longer be with us. I know the despair you and Dylan are feeling because we are in the same place. It’s so bad now that we can’t talk about Stephanie without breaking down. It’s almost as hard to type these words. Our friend Jeff died on August the 12th after being on a ventilator for nearly a month. It was his infection that prompted my email in July asking that you all reconsider and get vaccinated. The last time we spoke with Stephanie was a couple of days later when she called crying about Dylan’s hateful response to our email, which was so unlike her own response to our concern. She told us she loved us. That was the last time we spoke.
You’ve mentioned many times praying for a miracle. I’m almost ashamed of the anger we feel toward you for deciding your family would not get vaccinated. The mRNA vaccines were not some rabbit pulled from a hat. They were the product of decades of research and field testing by scientists, researchers, and medical experts who have devoted their lives to improving the public health. I don’t know who you listened to, but these were the people we listened to. No vaccine is completely effective and all produce side effects in some people. The mRNA vaccines have been given to hundreds of millions of people and have been more than 90% effective, though the last study I saw showed that the Moderna vaccine we received is now about 76% effective in preventing Delta variant infections but still almost completely effective in preventing hospitalization and death in breakthrough cases. We will be getting the booster shots as soon as they are approved.
The miracle that almost certainly would have saved Stephanie was available many, many months ago as a vaccine. We know full well that you are not a bad person. You are a good person who made the wrong decision. I’m sorry, but right now the anger we feel about Stephanie’s preventable death is hard to deal with. Please simply email us when she passes. We’re too raw emotionally to talk and we’re sure you will be the same. We’re so sorry for both of you and glad that you have each other and other family members close by.
Mind you, he was damned nice about it. It's a Southern thing, I reckon.
My sister's family are joined in this insanity by my SIL. My husband asked why she refuses to get the vaccine. What follows is the actual response (IN YELLOW) my SIL sent. This has not been edited, or altered, and nothing has been removed or taken out of context.
I have added helpful answers (facts with hyperlinks) combined with some comments not in yellow. I feel freed to let loose my snark and sarcasm about my SIL's crazy ass, dumb bitch, anti vax tirade, and from a woman who is a nurse no less! I say revoke her degree or as my Dad said, "She needs to be fired!" Too late, she quit over the vaccine mandate.
So here is her great big pile of shit crazy highlighted in yellow...
"First of all, it’s not a vaccine. FALSE: by basic definition and FALSE: specific to the Covid Vaccine
Second, it’s still in trials. See the information about provisional approval here.
