A close up

I have finally completed this painting. I labored over this more than any painting to date, returning time and again to add new layers, change emphasis and lighting, add in details.

This image is a closeup of the lower left quarter taken without a flash. The painting's colors play in the light as the sun rises and sets through the windows, appropriate for the subject.

The following images are photos taken at different stages as I changed the painting. The final image is the completed painting.

Sometimes the light of the room or the flash affected these images.

It is Untitled because I debate labeling it. Too many emotions are tied into the process to name it. I find myself feeling disappointment and warmth, frustration and satisfaction because of the overall process of trial and error combined with deliberation.

Yet I have found a stopping point. I see so many good things and so many things I'd want to change. Still, at this point, I say "Finished!" This is the completed painting.
