Fig season in the garden

Some of the figs are beginning to ripen. Many more need extra water if they're going to grow. With all the rain we've had, I expected a bumper crop. Instead, we have a lot of immature fruit that seems a long way from harvest.
The pomegranate tree's blooms never produced fruit. I noticed the blossoms all over the tree immediately before we had a heat wave. Checking today, I discovered none of the blossoms survived to yield fruit.
We didn't harvest any blackberries this year after our asshole neighbors mowed the back field last year. They destroyed the blackberry thicket and it's slowly beginning to come back. We thought it best to let them have a fallow year to recuperate.
