Homemade Oat Bread
Look how high the bread rose!
OAT
BREAD
In
a deep bowl, mix together
16
OZ cool WATER
1
½ TSP SALT
¼
TSP YEAST
1
TBSP HONEY
Add
3 ½ CUPS BREAD FLOUR
Stir
a bit until it is slightly damp.
Then
add 1 CUP OLD FASHIONED OATS
Mix
together well making certain to gather all the oats into the dough
ball.
Cover
the bowl with saran wrap.
Let
rest overnight.
Gather
the dough together into a ball.
This
is easily done by inserting the thin handle end of a large wooden
spoon into the dough and turning it in a circular motion until it
quickly gathers into a ball of dough.
Add
¼ CUP of OLD FASHIONED OATS to the outside of the dough ball turning
gently to cover the surface.
Place
dough into a 9 x 5 bread pan that has been sprayed.
Preheat
the oven to 400F and lower the rack to the lower third.
Let
rise about 30 minutes until the bread rises to form a crest above the
pan.
Bake
40 minutes at 400F.
Remove
immediately from pan and cool on a rack.
