Coal Miner

My husband is my muse.
Pictured below, Lance as a coal miner.

Altering photos can be a educational experience when learning how to use and manipulate software. Add on a border to create a vintage look and see if that works. Another thing to consider is adding blur to a specific area such as the background which better frames the subject. For the vintage photo below, the book titles are abstracted and the focus stays with the subject.

Converting an image begins with altering the original. In the image below, the shadows have been deepened. The light was reduced. Then the colors began to get changed. I was looking to increase the contrast and bump up the color saturation. Go between sharpening and blurring an image to see if the results get you closer to where you want to be. And save the changes as you go.

The original shot was from a series I did several years ago for an album cover.
