Soon, very soon 08/09/22

Beginning tomorrow I start to get my book nook back. Reed begins the big move tomorrow through the weekend. Boxes upon boxes, two wide, 4 and 5 high, 5 and 6 deep have been stored in my book nook off the library. My crafts shelf at the far end has been hidden away for over 4 months. The sci fi and mysteries, the women's and American Indian history / lit books off limits during this time. Oh, the humor has been out of reach too and, boy, have we needed that! Here's the back side of the two sided shelf which faces into the library and creates the nook with the row of shelves against the far wall. The rest of the nook is off camera covered in Reed's boxes.

Inspired by the former Jackson Street Books, my shelf ends host a variety of things we love: art and artists, writers and bookmarks, postcards and keepsakes like my Mae-Mae's car keys and great Granny's Turkish yarn doll. Skeletons hang along the back side leading to the mystery section, of course! No mystery we've all been looking forward to this move!

My first priority is my living room which is room to Peter's coffee table and tv and chair displaced from his den, which Reed has been sleeping in. His rugs and her rugs are behind my couch. Her plants are all over along with tiered tea tray and cake stands, a bust of Shakespeare, her grandad's Vietnam footlocker/coffee table and so much more. And that's just my living room.

My closet remains usable thanks to my normal order and foresight planning for added future space. That space is filled with her wall art and formal dresses and holiday boxes and some linens.

My dining room table has accumulated several last minutes purchases of food basics, cleaning supplies, meds, and TP to prep for initial stocking. Fortunately that's only been there the past few days as we prep for last minute essentials.

My library is also home to her couch which we walk around to access the normally clear path to the laundry.

I can finally get rid of her coffee maker and supplies. She's the only coffee drinker in the family. The kitchen doesn't have anything else except a water bottle or three and her favorite half dozen mugs. But food has been in overabundance and overstocked for the past few months so I'm looking forward to a normal larder-full.

Yes, there's more and it's squeezed into the bathroom she's been sharing with her brother and his former den, now her temporary home these past few LONG months. More furniture, more clothes, more, more, more. A George Carlin skit about STUFF comes to mind.

If there's ever a next time, her STUFF is not coming into this house, it's going into storage!

My crafts supplies are tucked away on the shelf at the end of the nook.

Our closet has a linens and storage shelf at the far end. Every bit of available space has been taken with her things and her formal wear hangs off the front at this moment. It's far too upsetting to document. I love my always neat closet and the past few months have left me and my house and my sense of balance and order off kilter.
