Cocoa and commiseration

Instead of my cuppa' tea this morning, I opted for hot cocoa. With my dairy prohibition, I created a work around. It was that or get hangry and kill everyone. Seriously though, after the past week's news from LA and the horrific response from Republicans, I really needed a chocolate fix.

I warmed up my Chobani Extra Creamy Oat Milk stovetop and added in cocoa powder and powdered sugar. No measurements, just guesswork and some tweaking. It has a very dark flavor and I'm hoping my heart can take it.

It's been a horrible week for the country as the fires burned in California and the right wing has shown its ass, spouting lies, and reminding the world just how cruel and inhumane they are. I won't address their easily discredited lies and nonsense. I won't offer up the response from the politicians who stepped up to show support and compassion. I don't need to show the heroic acts of the first responders and every day people who are giving of themselves. All of those things are there for anyone to readily find online.

I am glancing out my library window at a melting layer of ice and snow and enjoying the warmth and comfort of my cozy home. It's more than tens of thousands have in LA right now. And I am so grateful for what I have.
