Trump again demands to buy Greenland in ‘horrendous’ call with Danish PM
Source says: ‘The Danes are in crisis mode’ after US president’s call with prime minister Mette Frederiksen
Donald Trump had a fiery phone call with Danish prime minister Mette Frederiksen over his demands to buy Greenland, according to senior European officials.
Speaking to the Financial Times, officials said that Trump, then still president-elect, spoke with Frederiksen for 45 minutes last week, during which he was described to be aggressive and confrontational about Frederiksen’s refusal to sell Greenland to the US.
The Financial Times reports that according to five current and former senior European officials who were briefed on the call, the conversation “was horrendous”. One person said: “He was very firm. It was a cold shower. Before, it was hard to take it seriously. But I do think it is serious and potentially very dangerous.”
Another person who was briefed on the call told the outlet: “The intent was very clear. They want it. The Danes are now in crisis mode.” Someone else said: “The Danes are utterly freaked out by this.”--- Sourced here
It's time for the world to unite against the petty little tyrant Trump. He is a bully with a bully pulpit but if the world stands in opposition, he can be defeated. Match his actions one by one. If he creates a 10% tariff, respond with a larger, broader tariff. If he threatens one country's sovereignty, then all countries should back them.
What the world needs to know is that Americans like the comfortable life. We don't like being inconvenienced. We don't like second rate. We don't want to compromise. Dick Cheney said it best after 9/11: The American way of life is non-negotiable. George W. Bush said it similarly. But it was his father George H W Bush who said it originally at the 92 Rio Earth Summit. Specifically, he was saying that America will continue to consume at ever increasing rates and exploit whatever resources we need to do it.
Simply put, we're the lunchroom bullies and we are taking your lunch, and your, and yours, and your dessert too if we want it. And how do you deal with a bully? You stand up to a bully. You get your friends together and you take the bastard down. You gang up on him. You leverage what you have and pool it to challenge him. And that is what the world must do.
It won't take long. Consider all the outsourcing America has done over the past 50 years. America needs that junk from somewhere. Those spare parts. Those trinkets. Those components. Hell, those meds. That lumber. That petroleum. Why do you think the Keystone Pipeline shutdown was such a big deal?
Two months max. I give it two months before Americans would turn on Trump. The majority of Americans had shit fits when the pandemic hit and supply chains were disrupted. They were so upset that the general mood now is that shutting down the economy ever again is forbidden. Further, the majority of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. And we know how shortages affect our pocketbook. We saw it during the pandemic when supplies ran short and prices skyrocketed. We can't afford to suck it up.
But what would happen if the shortages were caused because Trump bullied the world so badly that everyone stood up to him. What if the only place to lay the blame was at Trump's ego?
