Trump fiddles as the world burns

Growing up I always heard "While Rome burned, Nero fiddled", a phrase loaded with meaning but only loosely in set in a broader historical event. In 64 AD, the Great Fire of Rome occurred. Six days of fire brought a short reprieve and then the fire reignited for another three days. Over 70% of Rome was destroyed. Emperor Nero was the man in charge and the stories that history and myth tell leave the blame on the madness of a tyrant and supposedly started a history of persecution against the new religious sect, Christianity.

Looking out across the global landscape today, the world burns amidst Trump's egomaniacal actions. Markets are tumbling post Trump global tariffs. Here in today's Rome, America, the Capital which had lead the markets until this regime takeover, the country that set policy on the global stage, we citizens of the great empire are watching in horror as everything we know burns to the ground. Historians, economists, and politicians are writing what will be The End of the American Period of Global Dominance, a modern Fall of Rome.
