The price of eggs

The price of eggs has dropped as the monitoring of avian flu has decreased. In my Southern state another backyard flock tested positive for bird flu this past week. Looking at related articles I came across these beautiful photographs. I was reminded of the Dutch painters who were hired by the aristocrats, the newly wealthy, and the middle classes during the period that began with the Northern Renaissance and continued through periods of growing Dutch wealth through the Dutch Golden Age. Many of the paintings commissioned show aspects of this new wealth. Some reflected large homes with servants tasked with daily chores. Others were portraits with the patrons adorned in the latest garb, surrounded by their new purchases. Some were still life paintings of items collected from around the world.
