The White Washing of America
*The NYT stated Trump Signs Order to Promote ‘Patriotic Education’ in the Classroom The executive order was among several the president signed meant to steer American schools and universities to adopt Republican priorities, such as restricting how schools discuss racism and gender issues.
*Already PragerU, which creates content promoting conservative and capitalist viewpoints on various political, economic, and sociological topics, has infiltrated the education curriculum of ten states.
The whitewashing of America continues in all arenas. The National Parks Service has been forced to remove references to slavery, woman and minority information, and other things viewed as WOKE ideology or which offends White Nationalists.
*(WASHINGTON) — PEN America said today it was alarmed by the Trump administration’s sweeping review of exhibits at the Smithsonian Institution, fearing it will rewrite history and strip truth from exhibits ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026.
According to reporting, the White House is conducting a sweeping review of the Smithsonian’s exhibit materials and operations to ensure they comply with executive orders related to “patriotic” education.
The review will examine the Smithsonian’s “online content, internal curatorial processes, exhibition planning, the use of collections and artist grants, and wording related to museum exhibit messaging.”
Hadar Harris, managing director of the free expression and writers’ organization’s Washington, DC office, said:
“Telling the story of the United States must extend to the full and complex history of its past and present, including an honest assessment of wrongs and injustices, and a recognition of the never-ending project of creating a more perfect union. The administration’s efforts to rewrite history are a betrayal of our democratic traditions and a deeply concerning effort to strip truth from the institutions that tell our national story, from the Smithsonian to our national parks. The ideas and presentation of history cannot be subject to the whims of a single leader or administration. The jewel in the crown of U.S. national museums, the Smithsonian engages and employs well-respected experts to ensure the accuracy and integrity of its exhibits. Those exhibits have evolved over time to include more nuance and complexity. Curators and historians must be free to do their work without political interference.”
