Repeating History
Watching big, dumb summer movies with my son lately. We saw one set after Russia's system had fallen and the oligarchs took over. Lawlessness was everywhere as people were murdered for control of assets and also for reporting or protesting the corruption. I was watching America's future unfold but in a different sequence.
The USSR had a system of government which collapsed and the wolves moved in to take over everything. It took years for the transition to fully occur. In 1991 the flag was lowered. Gorbachev resigned and Yeltsin stepped in as the new leader. During The Wild Nineties, government assets were sold off to private parties, the oligarchs. For Russian citizens their personal savings were devalued, pensions faltered, then crashed, wages went unpaid, social benefits were cancelled or greatly curtailed.
America's path follows a different timeline. Our collapse will be the end stage, not the beginning. The wealthy have been setting themselves up ahead of time. Buying politicians and writing legislation is but one stage. Billionaire takeover of media platforms control the narrative. Directing foreign action for business reasons. Using the nation's coffers to bring about regime change, to steal natural resources in outside nations is another step.
The real power comes when the US purse is redirected to global surveillance systems, industry infrastructure, and military contractors thereby bolstering the wealth of our oligarchs. Add in directed police and military action which robs citizens of their rights on American soil. Now the the secret police state actors are terrorizing American cities. Stack the courts and legislature with those whose aim is to cede their own power to one branch of government, the role of Executive, the President. The final stage is dissolution of the US Constitution.
It's only a matter of time. They have already paved the way.
