To my MAGAt family members:

To MAGAt family members everywhere: After this week's whining from the right about friends and family cutting you out of their lives I say, Good for them. You get what you deserve with your words and actions and for supporting Trump and his ilk.

To our MAGAt family members I want to remind you of a few things:

You cut yourself out of your grandkids lives when, at a HS graduation party, you said, "I like watermelon so much I must be a little [bit] black."

You cut yourself out of your granddaughter's life when you criticized her choice of boyfriend, a black guy for your white granddaughter, because of the color of his skin.

You cut me out of your life when you went behind our backs and introduced our wee daughter to religion despite telling you that our children would not be brought up in religion. Picking up our toddler from your house one day, she walked over to a corner and came out with both a wordless book and a tiny white Bible with gilded edge pages. "Shh! Grandmom says it's secret." You defied our wishes as parents. You used the wordless book to tell my sweet innocent daughter that she is a sinner, born in sin, and going to hell. What the fuck!

You cut yourself out of our lives when you refused to get vaccinated despite knowing how vulnerable our son, your grandson, is with his health problems.

You cut yourself out of our lives when your first grandchild's birthday party was on a Sunday morning at 11am, the only day that could accommodate everyone's work schedule. But you didn't come because you were a deacon and wouldn't skip church.

You cut yourself out of my father's life when your family "did your own research" and my sister died after 100 days on a ventilator and nearly 5 months of horrible illness in two rehab hospitals. You refused the miracle you were hoping for which came in the form of a Covid vaccine which had arrived for everyone months prior to her illness.

You cut yourself off by your stupidity. I now know you were out during the pandemic eating with buddies and going around unmasked. The picture was on Facebook, you moron. You murdered your own wife through willing ignorance and stupidity by bringing home Covid and by refusing the vaccine.

You cut yourself out of my life when you embraced and promoted crazy ass conspiracy theories about Covid, the vaccine, and medicine...and nigh on everything else too. I've had it doing you favors and trying to be nice to you for the sake of appearances. You're gone full on crazy MAGAt and I'm glad you are moving to the American Redoubt with your equally nutso second husband where you both belong.

You cut yourself out of my life by voting for Trump and Republicans who want to overturn the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. Your grandson/nephew/cousin relies on the ACA for his insurance. He relies on it for coverage. He relies on it because the ACA guarantees you can't be denied coverage for pre-existing illness. He also relies on it for no lifetime caps. 

You cut yourself out of my life when in 2020 we were discussing Trump's first term attempt overturn the ACA. I had just told you how sick your grandson was and how grateful I was your grandson was on our healthcare thanks to the ACA (Obamacare) allowing him to stay on our plan until age 26. You said, "Well, I got mine. That's all that matters." You are on Medicare, you stupid bitch. How safe is that with Republicans who hate the social safety net? 

You cut yourself off when you went on some spiel about Beyonce and her husband visiting the Obamas at the White House. You spouted some nonsense about thugs and rappers and trash. Hell, I didn't listen to those two entertainers or know anything much about them. At the time I had no idea who Beyonce was married to. But I knew they were black people and knew that was where your problem lay. I didn't even know anything about the visit but yet you did because Fox "News" blew their racist dog whistle and you lapped it up and shat it out.

You MAGAts cut yourself off by supporting Trump and his minions and their policies of hatred, inhumanity, immorality, and decrying any human decency and common sense. Do not tell me we should be united. YOU gave that up with your selfishness, your bigotry, your sexism, your disgusting embrace of hate. YOU made your bed. Go die in it alone.

*At some point, we as adult human beings knowing that our time here is finite, each need to choose whether we will lean into our deepest convictions or into relationships with people whose presence increasingly causes us to compromise those convictions.

*...many of us may decide that we cannot forgive or abide those who not only allowed it to happen, but did so with perverse joy and unrepentant cruelty.
