For the price of eggs...

This is your reminder that you sold your soul for the price of eggs

Today, on January 22, 2025 one dozen eggs are $4.17 at my WalMart here in poultry country. A dozen eggs cost 3.54 on November 12, 2024, a week after election.

So what's different? We have a bird flu outbreak which is spreading from the layer hens to the broilers. Here in Georgia the Ag department has suspended all shows and public access to chicken farms and are monitoring a growth in the spread of bird flu.

And what has the Trump administration done this week? Pulled out of the World Health Organization and the Paris Accords. Oh, and he renamed the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America. As John Pavlovitz pointed out the Gulf of America is that empty space between the ears of Trump supporters. Hey, why not name it the gulf of lower cost groceries for all the good any of this will do.

And where do we stand on science in Trump 2.0? The nomination of Robert F Kennedy, Jr. for Secretary of Health and Human Services says it all. Combined with a directive from the federal level ordering dissemination of information halted between health and science agencies and now the cessation of funds to science grant holders, we are pretty much at a negative level of progress. Add in the cessation of distribution of funds from the US government on numerous levels and I was left wondering

Did we really expect anything different from a group of people whose largest support comes from people who think the Earth is 6,000 years old? From people whose supporters met en masse at super spreader events unmasked and, for many, unvaxxed.
