Rules for thee, but not for me

Yes! Zohran Mamdani won the NYC Mayoral campaign!
This is the direction the Democratic Party needs to move in!

Oh, but he's a Muslim!--Every damned Republican

Trump 1.0 brought us this somewhat amusing photo
showing Trump with his business partners, friends, and allies.

Years ago the comedian Orlando Jones commented on the Confederate Flag controversy with an interesting response. Taking a walk one day he passed a houseboat at a marina flying the Confederate Flag. He said he was okay with it flying because it was a clear sign of who the hell to avoid.

People you'd think would be ok with a progressive, Democratic Socialist running for NYC Mayor showed their true colors in the NYC Mayoral campaign. Among them were Rapper 50 Cent and Actor Debra Messing. A rapper who opposed the tax hikes: I guess he wants mo' money because he'd rather get rich or die tryin'. He also referenced nonsense about defunding the police and how this would lead to The Purge. A rapper who is okay with the police status quo. I'm a little confused. He one rapped "Crooked-ass crackers will give my Black ass a hundred years."

Actress Debra Messing faced criticism for posting a meme about Mamdani ahead of his victory. The meme depicted a stylized ballot listing two candidates: "A Democrat. Just a Democrat" and "An actual communist jihadist. A literal Karl Marx-quoting, America-hating jihadist." -Source  I also found this surprising coming from an actor who found fame playing a liberal, open minded, gay friendly lead on "Will and Grace". I guess she's a better actress than I realized. Messing leaned heavily on her Jewish identify to criticize Mamdani. Apparently she did not get the memo about all of us being human.

It was no surprise to hear criticism of Mamdani from the Republican side of the aisle. The attacks were viscous and racist AF. The most common comments revolved around his religion and his politics as a Socialist Democrat. Former NYC Mayor, Drunk Rudy, chimed in with a picture of the Twin Towers burning on 9/11 asking how New Yorkers had forgotten --as if to blame all Muslims, including Mamdani, for the attack.

The outcry over Mamdani's Muslim identity was the most hypocritical part of the Republican response. It eclipsed the Republican hypocrisy stemming from corporate welfare and shifting the tax burden from the wealthy to lower classes.

Trump and his family have allied themselves with Muslim power brokers for years. As long as the money and gifts flowed, the Trumps have met them with open arms. Yet, there has been little or no controversy and criticism from the Republicans. A free jet from the Qatari Royal family? No problem. Trump letting Qatar’s Air Force move into a plush new “military facility” at the Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho. Yes, the same Qatar that Trump once accused of funding global terrorism. What a difference an airplane makes! - SOURCE

Son-in-law Jared Kushner's private equity firm received a $2bn (£1.59bn) investment from Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund. - SOURCE - SOURCE Beyond that, Trump's family has received numerous gifts from a number of people and countries through his Crypto schemes, including high profile Muslims

Despite being in business with and receiving what appear to be bribes, Trump and his family have not been criticized for their overt and behind the crypto curtain connections with Muslims. The Republican response has been Crickets. The double standards and the hypocrisy have my Bullshit Meter chiming incessantly.
