Placating The Man Baby

Greenland and Denmark left the White House. All sides agreed to disagree. But what I found interesting is that the visitors said that they are taking actions to address Trump's concerns about Greenland's safety and defense. This is a way of placating Trump, a chance to allow him to save face. He gets to brag I told them Greenland was vulnerable and they agreed with me. Security is being stepped up. 

But what is happening is a classic military tactic. Several NATO countries have agreed to send their troops and defenses to Greenland. They are establishing a tripwire force. This force is dual purpose. One, they are there to sound the alarm should invasion occur. Two, the troops come from a number of different countries, in this case, with NATO in common and what follows is the most interesting part. Step two is that if you attack their troops, then it is an attack against their country. And if they are NATO members, it is an attack against NATO. 

This is an excellent strategy if you refuse to blink, refuse to back down. The only way to counter the big bully is to get all your friends to stand in opposition.
